What is the UK? 乜嘢係英國？
Before diving into British history and culture, it's essential to understand what the United Kingdom actually is. Many people confuse the UK, Great Britain, and England - they're not the same thing!
喺深入了解英國歷史同文化之前，必須先了解聯合王國究竟係乜嘢。好多人混淆UK、Great Britain同England——佢哋唔係同一樣嘢！
ब्रिटिश इतिहास और संस्कृति में गहराई से जाने से पहले, यह समझना आवश्यक है कि यूनाइटेड किंगडम वास्तव में क्या है। बहुत से लोग UK, ग्रेट ब्रिटेन और इंग्लैंड को भ्रमित करते हैं - ये एक ही चीज़ नहीं हैं!
The Four Nations 四個國家

- EEngland - Largest, capital London
- WWales - Western, capital Cardiff
- ANorthern Ireland - Across the sea, capital Belfast
- NScotland - North, capital Edinburgh
EWAN represents the four nations that make up the UK.
The UK is made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The rest of Ireland is an independent country called the Republic of Ireland.
英國由四個國家組成：英格蘭、蘇格蘭、威爾斯同北愛爾蘭。愛爾蘭嘅其餘部分係一個獨立國家，叫做愛爾蘭共和國。
UK चार देशों से बना है: इंग्लैंड, स्कॉटलैंड, वेल्स और उत्तरी आयरलैंड। आयरलैंड का शेष भाग एक स्वतंत्र देश है जिसे आयरलैंड गणराज्य कहा जाता है।
Understanding the Names 理解唔同名稱

The official name is 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. Great Britain refers ONLY to England, Scotland, and Wales - NOT Northern Ireland. The term 'British' typically includes everyone in the UK.
官方名稱係「大不列顛及北愛爾蘭聯合王國」。Great Britain只係指英格蘭、蘇格蘭同威爾斯——唔包括北愛爾蘭。「British」一詞通常包括英國所有人。
Great Britain = the main island; UK = Great Britain + Northern Ireland
Great Britain = 主島；UK = Great Britain + 北愛爾蘭
Crown Dependencies 皇家屬地
Some islands are closely linked to the UK but are NOT part of it. These are called Crown Dependencies and have their own governments:

The UK also has overseas territories around the world. These are linked to the UK but not part of it:

Parliament and Devolution

The UK is governed by Parliament in Westminster, London. However, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland also have their own parliaments or assemblies with devolved powers over certain matters like education and health.
英國由位於倫敦西敏寺嘅議會管治。然而，蘇格蘭、威爾斯同北愛爾蘭亦有自己嘅議會或議會，喺某啲事務如教育同衛生方面擁有下放權力。
