Understanding the UK legal system and your legal responsibilities is essential both for the test and for living in Britain. The law applies equally to everyone.
了解英國法律系統同你嘅法律責任對考試同喺英國生活都非常重要。法律對所有人平等適用。
यूके कानूनी प्रणाली और आपकी कानूनी जिम्मेदारियों को समझना परीक्षा और ब्रिटेन में रहने दोनों के लिए आवश्यक है। कानून सभी पर समान रूप से लागू होता है।
Criminal vs Civil Law
刑法與民法
Criminal law deals with crimes against society (theft, assault). The state prosecutes offenders. Civil law deals with disputes between individuals (contracts, property). Individuals can sue each other in civil courts.
刑法處理針對社會嘅犯罪（盜竊、襲擊）。國家起訴犯罪者。民法處理個人之間嘅爭議（合同、財產）。個人可以喺民事法院互相起訴。
The Police
警察
The police maintain law and order and are independent of government. Police officers are expected to be fair and treat everyone with respect. If arrested, you have the right to legal advice and a fair trial.
